    Need some info on fitment.

With the longbeach rims long gone, and spring around the corner ive decided to get rims.

I have already decided the for the next little bit i will be rolling on some Diamond Racing Wheels.

The issue im having is finishing the order due to lack of knowledge of what would fit properly on the vehicle. (98 gti vr6)

What im looking for is any first hand experience with these specs.

I will be buying the Pro/Challenger series. i am looking at the 16 x 8 (+12) for the front, and was wondering whether or not the same formula is used for the rear.

The tech at DR suggested that a few vw invoices showed that sometimes 16 x 10(0) were purchased with some 16 x 8. He said the offset of (0) pushed the rim out, so he assumes they were purchased for the rear of the car, but assured me that i should seek out more info.

    so...

do it get 16 x 8 (+12) all around and use spacers for desired look or
get the 16 x 10(0) for the rears.

Does anybody know about the rims and what i should do here.
My model is an mk3 gti vr6 (98)

    Thanks
    Ralph

The LB's are 17x7 +38mm, running wider and lower offset wheels is going to push them way out. This link will let you know just how much more poke you'll get:

theres alot of room in the rear. im sure i can fit 8 in the back. Actually i think 10's can go there as well.
the front can fit an 8, cuz the 7's were never flush with the fender, ive always had a gap from fender to rim/tire.

checking out the site, thanks for the post.

    looking for answers !!!!

I'm not doubting you can fit an 8" wheel up front and a 10" wheel out back, but with the offsets you've listed the front wheel will be 39mm (1.5") further out and the rear wheel will be 76mm (3") further out. I'm sure you can fit the widths, but with these offsets you'll have a lot of poke.

Same or similar wheels, needs a lot of stretch on the tires and fenders pulled/rolled to fit them. That's with 8" +12 all around, add another 1.5" of poke out back for the 10" +0.

Yeah good luck with 10" et 0 rears. Why not go 9" rear instead?
