    Oil pan Heater

Do these really help? Was thinking of getting one, but then also realized that I may have an aluminum oil pan on the Touareg.

How effective they are probably depends on the oil you're running. If you're running heavy oil it might need some help on cold days, but if it's pretty thin you're probably ok without. My car comes with 0w20 stock so I'm sure it flows easily even in cold weather.

That would be my guess. My car fired up easily and no ticking sounds from lack of oil circulation, even in the -15 or whatever it is.

Install an inline coolant heater like the zerostart kits if they make one that will fit. I put one in my TDI and it was night and day difference, both in the starting and how soon it was warm. I had warm air blowing on me in like 2min as opposed to 15 on super cold days.

They are a must on TDIs!

I dont see why it wouldn't work on any vehicle.

I was also thinking about investing in one of those, but I'm much too lazy to do any installs during the winter months... I'll probably put one in when I do my glow plugs come spring time.

By 'those' I mean frost heater.
