MK4 '02 Jetta Trunk License Plate disaster - Need to fix!

    Here is my trunk:

It looks like hell and I need to fix this.
The bottom left hole has nothing in it.

I took it to VW Brantford and the guy told me I would need to grind, tap, drill, all kinds of things that I don't have access to.

    Suggestions?!!?

If you have at least two other bolts holding the plate in, just use 3M Double Sided Outdoor Tape (the kind to hold outdoor carpets to concrete floors / walkways / patios) on the part of the plate that doesn't have anything to screw to. I've had that shit holding my plate to and my side skirts to my cars for YEARS now.

Find a welder friend to patch the hole first and prime and paint it.

Meh. Fixed it just drilled a hole in my plate which I should have just done in this first place. Would have avoided the mess.
