This whole PSI thing is the one part of turbo charging that makes me go crosseyed. The kit was installed, and after setting everything up, I was told it runs happily at around 12 psi. Okay. I know under full acceleration the boost reads higher, under normal acceleration, it reads around 10psi, 11psi. At idle or cruising, there is no reading. My Mk4 TDI Jetta was much the same. I went with what the mechanic who set it up told me, as he knows more about this stuff than I do. I still need to get the whole thing clarified. As I said, makes me go crosseyed as I don't fully understand this whole boost thing. All i know for sure is that it runs smoothly, kicks my butt when I want it too, and purrs along nicely when wifey is out with me. It's running well and isn't running rich or using oil, so whatever is going on, I'm happy. Still, I'd like to know the exact specs on what this is thing is doing.

Wow man.... i would put a temp intercooler setup in there for the time being if FMIC isn't high on your list. Things may be ok for now... but that would pump out some serious hot air. Not to mention the gain !

So... when are we gonna see some progress ......lol

    Progress? Well..I've started.

Here's my oil pan of awesome. Notcie the beautiful ground down drain plug! This is why my new oil pan, drain plug, an Evo skid plate arrives soon!

I started taking the car apart so I can get moving on the rust repair.

    Doesn't look so bad. Right?

Around the emblem. The emblem holes will be shaved.

This is where the rear plate surround is held on.

Rear license plate lights. WTF is this nonsense?!

i love silicone goo gone wild!

So that gets sorted out. New license plates lights, remove the silicone mess, shave the holes, fix the rust.

    Giggity giggity.

I don't think so, the back looks solid, so I'm guessing it's maybe just the screw holes that are rotted. If so, I'll just fill them and re-drill them.

Well, insurance is officially off the car, so she's parked until spring. Now disassembly can really get going.

Skid plate arrived. I checked it out and it looks like it's going to hang pretty low. It sits at least an inch lower than the crossmember, and there's two inches of space between the pan and the plate. That thing will be dragging all the time! Unless I can find a B3 specific skidplate, or one that sits a little closer to the car, I may need to mock one up myself. So if anyone sees a B3 skid palte in their travels, let me know!

Had a chance to do more disassembly yesterday.

First, the right side rear license plate light.

    Now the left side.

    Can you see the difference?

I'm going to hit up a welding neighbour to take care of this. I have an idea, and this gives me an excuse to experiment. And if we frak it up, then I'm buying a new used hatch anyway. Ahh, good times...

Not much progress lately. it's been a busy month or so. However, i'm amassing a good pile of parts for the wagon.

    Mk5 R32 oil pan
    Mk5 R32 oil pump
    Front bumper (euro of course)
    front lip spoiler/grille
    coilovers
    new used rear hatch

    Other goodies on the way.
