Operation Moar Low: My MK4 Air Ride Build

So, I figured I might as well start a thread about this. I've finally decided to go the air ride route for getting my car lower. Picked up a good, lightly used kit to build off of and customize to my liking.

    My kit consists of:
    • HPS Premium Front Struts
    • Firestone Rear Bags
    • Koni Yellow Rear Struts
    • 8 Asco Valves
    • 5 Gallon Aluminum Tank
    • Vlair 400c Compressor
    • 2 Dual Needle Easy Street Gauges
    • 1 Single Needle East Street Tank Gauge
    • 7 Switch AVS Switchbox
    • Mason Tech Great Plates
    • 034 Motorsports Shorter Strut Mount Bushings
    • 3/8" Lines to Bags
    • 1/8" Lines to Guages

Having access to 2 full CNC machine shops is going to help make some custom parts.

    Plans right now are:
    • Custom single din guage panel made from 6061-T6 Aluminum and brushed to match 20th trim

I'll keep updating this thread with progress.

Some before pics of the car.

As long as you're happy that's all that really matters. I'm just tired of the mentality that a parked poser stance is where it's at for all the cool kids. I've already voiced that in enough places though, so no sense sullying your thread. Good luck on the build.

^i know exactly what you mean. For me, I'm not doing it for that. It's just more functional. It will allow me to have a lower driving height and the car is also practical at the same time.

That's awesome! Your car will look so good on air. Really excited to see this, and hopefully learn some along the way. Glad someone on here finally bit the bullet. U buying the euro image half caps and getting it notched? You doing it yourself or bringing it in? Looking forward to seeing some pics and proogress.

As far as half caps, going to make my own. as for the notch, i really don't want to do it but i dont want the car sitting on the axle when its aired out because thats not good for the axle. i'll pass that hurdle when i get there. i will be posting detailed progress as i go and when i have a chance.

Cheap Trills in Milton did 2 of my tires in separate occasions for $20 each. Don't go to Walmart or CT for patching, they'll tell you it's impossible, unsafe, blah, blah, blah.

I don't think so... I don't remember the last time I was there if they removed the tire. Kind of weird about them closing down, cause last time I was there, about 1 year ago they had just built a new shop.

yes, to do it properly. Difference between a plug and a patch. dont do plugs

I heard the owner passed away or something and they were selling a bunch of old wheels. Dont think they are closing

Why not do plugs? I have had both my tires plugged and it's been 2 years and not an issue. The tires don't even lose air.

patches are so much better and usually like 5 bucks more. Plugs have the potential to pop out at high speeds. patch will never leak or cause issues
