i doubt it although every dealership is different. i had a vent mount boost gauge in my car right away and never had issues with warranty work from Oakville or Queensway on my 06 A3. that said make sure if you do install on, and your chipped make sure you set your tuning back to stock. Boost gauge reading 20psi is a green light to them to void warranty make excuses for something

I am in the same boat as skotty182. I am looking for a steering column pod and find one however I really like that center dash vent mount. Footose could you tell me where you got that from. It looks like you have glowshift gauges which is what I am buying. Thanks for any help.

I am a huge fan of the steering column pods, but yeah that center pod doesnt seem so bad. If i knew a company would be coming out with a steering column pod i would wait for that

Skotty182 I actually found something online about making your custom gauge pods and I am going to try to make a custom steering column pods from scratch. If you want it I can send you the link the guy actually made a custom pillar pod for his evo but I think I can make the method work. I wouldn't expect a column pod to come out for at least two more years and trust me I like the column too. Just let me know and I will send you the link and when I make mine I will send you pics of what it looks like if you want to see it.

Brenden thank you. I think I might look into that I am still pricing out if it is cheaper to custom make it. Skotty i will let you know if I custom make it and I will also send pics I think that way I can make it how I want but you will have to give me at least a month cause work has me really busy now so it is completely up to you.

I can tell you that the parts list is a fiberglass resin kit, 2 in pvc pipe, felt, sandpaper. And primer and paint.

Skotty i have talked to my dealership about it and they told me that VW doesn't care what you do. What will void your warranty is if the gauge you install is the direct cause of the failure of what ever part(s) it is tied into then it wont be covered under warranty. Otherwise they said it is ok cause they see lots of cars come in just after they are bought with gauges on them. So again if you can wait for me to get mine done i will still send you pics and info about it if not no bigger i understand it is hard to wait to add stuff to your car. Hope all that makes sense.

haha yeah pretty much then the only thing that can void warranty on a boost gauge is if osmething happens to the vacuum hose or the wiring for the lighting of the gauge haha k not a big deal i was also looing at some other stuff i asked them about like exhaust and chips... but yeha im gonna wait abit still and let me know how it goes with yours on what you decide to do and also let me know if you find anything for your head console about changing the tach/speedo coloring back to blue i had been thinking about that aswell

You are right about the whole gauge thing. Those examples are exactly what would affect your warranty. Now as far as the exhaust i doubt it but ask them. I know for a fact that if you get caught with a chip it will void your warranty. That is why i am waiting for that warranty to expire and then i am putting in a chip. i want to push over 200hp eventually. but i will for sure let you know about the gauge overlays. I miss the blue gauges they were the best.

Software upgrade should be the first thing on your list! It easily best bang for buck, and will leave you smiling for about a week till you want MOAR!!

Lava is that a vw software upgrade or an aftermarket upgrade. Also will that affect your warranty? And out of curiosity what would that run for price?

  24. #24
I see you name is diesel power not sure what your driving and where you are located but diesel tuning is a whole different ball park.

This would apply to the OP or anyone with the 2.0T

Well software upgrade is the same thing that your calling a "chip". cars havent been chipped since MK3. That said these upgrade which are made by aftermarket companies. APR,UNI, REVO, GIAC etc have come a long way. most dealership arent too concerned with you being chipped, some even are dealer for these companies and sell these "chips" through there very VAG dealerships. That said if you blow up a turbo or serious engine failure, some dealership may decline you warranty having a SW upgrade. As you are asking more of the engine then stock.

All things considered i wouldnt wait an extra day to upgrade a new car again. hell i have done 2 already. That said you have no shortage of opinions as to which brand to pick. see if any dealerships offer any programming in your area, if not the nearest authorized dealer for whichever tuner you pick. i run APR GL
