IMHO, dont bother... it's a mk3, there's billions out there.. and they rust out faster than I can complete this post.

it would be different if it were say... and aircooled, or a rabbit... but if it's a mk3... just cut yer losses, the work involved greatly outweighs the overall value of the car....

after you fix that.. who knows... your front strut tower might seperate from the body like TDI_Race's did.... I'm not kidding... no warning signs or anything... no apparent rust... nothing....

True story. You could fix the floor, but guaranteed there'll be plenty of other repairs needed that are hidden.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked my mk3. Pretty much every one i've seen is rotten through somewhere though. Why do you think there's so many of them at the wreckers?

From my experience, I would not buy another one

I also disagree. I got new replacement floors put in and sealed for a couple hundred bucks. Provided the rest of the shell is clean I would fix them

I disagree to BOTH neb and kooz

it's well known that both sources of steel to the early Westmoreland PA plant and the Puebla Mexico plant... (both North American plants) were supplied inferior steel comparatively speaking to their fatherland counterparts... (hell, even the Brazillian steel was better!! look at the shape of ANY fox!)

After seeing TDI_Race's jetta rip itself apart without evidence or warning, I'd sooner stay away from repairing a mk3. There's far more solid and sought after vehicles to do restoration work to.

if you want to restore a toilet, take up ceramics...

Remember that Kooz MK3 is a california car, so no rust.

I realize that. I don't think that you can really compare cars coming from california to what we have here

Yeah I think so.........they look to be 18's too. That's too big man. I'm thinking of dropping down to some 16" Schmidt's. 17's are a bit too rough for me now.
