That’s right if your not under warranty then the bulb is $450 plus labour, unless you do it your self. I had to do my right one a few months ago

hi guys. thanks for the feedback. have any of you repaired this yourself instead of going to vw? im not under warranty anymore so if someone can tell me how to fix this, id rather do it myself. btw, im located in south florida, so if you know of any places down here where i can get the bulb, that would be great. btw, which bulb would i need? i did a search for bulbs that my dealership sells and im trying to figure out which one i need. i have hids so is it "headlight bulb, jetta, xenon .... $221.22" or is it "low beam bulb back w/hid - w/hid .... $221.22" ? or could it be something else? any feedback would be appreciated. thanks.

you can buy Philips or Osram(what comes OEM on the mk5) D2s for 80-100 brand new for both

you should replace both bulbs because HID bulbs colour shift, so your new bulb will be a different colour. Its REALLY easy to replace the bulb

The bulbs are not that much, actually they can be as cheap as 15 bucks for two, anything over 200 is for the whole headlight meaning the plastic cover and all if you just need a bulb open the hood take off the rubber circle cap closest to the tire, there will be wires gently pull until just the bulb comes out and replace it like a fuse.... Very simple

Touareg bulbs are like $190 dollars for the bulb alone from the stealer.

You can get replacement aftermarket ones for like $50 bux.

You won't find HID bulbs for $15/pair... they're much more expensive than halogen bulbs.
