Finally fixed 2001 jetta TDI low power

Been pulling my hair out as to why my 130,000 mile TDI was low on power yet got great gas mileage.

Did the obvious like cleaned the intake but wasn’t bad, checked fuel supply, good.

Took it to the dealer for diagnostic and $210 later told me I needed a $2,400 injector pump replacement. I asked if he was sure it would fix it before I spent the money and he backed down really fast. So I said thanks but no thanks.

To make a long story short…

Found Catalytic converter was plugged and cavitated it, helped a lot but still low on power.
Replaced injectors with Sprint 520’s…. Fixed, runs great so now I will get a KermaTDI.com alligator tune and be done.

Hey man.. welcome to the site!

Since you are starting to sink money into Diagnostics, you may want to start to look into running your own. If you have a laptop, you can purchase a software package called "VAG-COM" - It will output all sorts of useful information from your car, including diagnostics!

It pays for itself after running the program only a few times! Check it otu.

My sister's TDI had no pick-up at one point. Turned out to be a dead MAF. Funny thing is that it wasn't throwing any codes. Dealer replaced it for free even though the car was out of warranty. Must have been one of those 'silent recall' deals.
